NO DANCE 2000 FILM
AWARDS
(01/29/2000)
"The NO DANCE Film
& Multimedia Festival
- Year Three - announced
the competition and festival
awards to a cheering crowd
at the Gateway Center
in Park City, Utah. The
awards program was held
at the official closing
night bash, following
four exciting days of
digitally-projected short,
feature and music video
presentations on DVD.
"The
overwhelming response
to NO DANCE 2000 proved
that the indie spirit
is alive and well,"
commented Festival Director
and Founder James Boyd.
"The filmmakers at
No Dance took a no-holds
barred approach to guerrilla
marketing. People took
notice, and we were thrilled
to welcome their attention
at packed screenings."
An
unprecedented crowd attended
NO DANCE 2000, which highlighted
many first time filmmakers
and was free to the general
public. The NO DANCE "Walk
On Program" provided
a screening room for any
filmmaker, and was a hub
of non-stop activity for
the entire week. Additionally,
NO DANCE extended its
stay at the Main Street
Mall Headquarters, and
presented competition
screenings through Friday,
January 28th, 2000.
Boyd
also announced an upcoming
DVD
magazine of the YEAR THREE
program, and the NO DANCE
2000 traveling festival
for selections that will
parade through Austin
during the 2000 South
By Southwest Film Festival,
Cannes 2000 in Cannes,
France, the 2000 Toronto
Film
Festival, and New York's
IFFM. "In addition
to its superior sound
and visual quality, the
portability of DVD
is another great benefit
for taking the show on
the road. NO DANCE will
continue to promote and
celebrate the alternative
digital culture well into
the future. Afterall,
we are the world's first
DVD-projected
film festival, and its
time to bring wacked product
to the people."
